Privacy policy — Budgeter
In short
Budgeter is an offline-first personal finance app. Your financial data stays on your device. The app has no server of its own, does not sell data, does not show ads and does not use advertising tracking technologies.
What data it processes and where
Financial data (on the device only)
Accounts, cards, transactions, categories, budgets, goals, recurring items and instalments are stored locally on the device in an SQLite database. They can be protected with a PIN, biometrics and database encryption (SQLCipher), at your choice. This data is not sent to any server of the publisher.
Google Drive backup (optional, can be turned off)
If you turn on the Google Drive backup, the app uploads a copy of your data to the app's private folder in your Google Drive account (the appDataFolder area), which other apps cannot see. You can turn on optional encryption of the backup: in that case the key stays only on your device and is never transmitted. The backup lives in your Drive account; the publisher has no access to it. The feature is entirely optional and can be turned off.
Expense capture from Google Pay (optional, Android)
When turned on, the app reads only the notifications of the Google Pay app to suggest adding an expense. Processing happens on the device; no notification data is sent to third parties by the publisher.
Receipt scanning (optional)
Receipt text is read on the device (on-device OCR). The photo is used only for text recognition and is not kept.
Device permissions
- Camera / Photos: only if you use receipt scanning.
- Notifications: local reminders (instalments, card charges, budgets) and, if turned on, the capture of Google Pay notifications.
- Biometrics: only to unlock the app, if you turn it on.
Data sharing
The publisher does not sell or share your financial data. The only data flow off the device is the Google Drive backup, if you turn it on: in that case the data goes to your Google account, not to the publisher. The app does not send diagnostic or usage data to any third-party service.
Retention and deletion
The data stays on the device until you delete it (you can delete all data from the app). Uninstalling the app removes the local data. Drive backups are managed from your Google account.
Children
The app is not intended for children and does not knowingly collect their data.
Your rights
The app's data is on your device: you can view, export (backup/CSV) and delete it at any time. If you write to the publisher, your address and message are used only to reply to you; for any question or request (including deletion of your messages) write to budgeterappinfo@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
